Description

Excellent resistance to weathering and ozone, water and steam, with good performance in castor and some phosphate ester based fluids. It's low and high temperature capability is good, having excellent resistance to set with good resilience. Also high temperature braking systems employing castor based fluids for mouldings subjected to weathering and ozone and for seals in chemical plant due to its good chemical resistance.

EPDM is particularly useful when sealing phosphate-ester hydraulic fluids and in brake systems that use fluids having a glycol or silicone base.

This results in a highly fluorinated elastomeric compound with exceptional temperature resistance, compatibility with a wide range of aggressive chemical combinations and outstanding resistance to permanent deformation.

Description

Nitrile (or NBR) O-Rings are most commonly available and are cost effective.Ideal for use as seals on pumps, drive belts, and other general engineering applications.
NBR is good for applications that need to withstand fats, greases and high temperature (+70°C).
For automotive applications requiring contact with petrol or diesel you may wish to consider Polymax Viton o ring kits

Description

PTFE O-rings have an almost universal chemical resistance including virtually all known acids, alkalis and solvents. The material is very tough and abrasion resistant and PTFE also has a wide temperature range from -200°C up to +250°C (intermittent.) However, PTFE O-rings are not easily compressed and have little memory to be able to return to their original form. This can be a disadvantage if under permanent strain and may not create a lasting seal as easily as some other polymers.

  • Not subject to ageing, so a near infinite shelf / storage life
  • Can be use in food, chemical and medical industries (among others)
  • Low elasticity (memory), making it unsuitable for dynamic applications unless energised by suitable material (I.E. rubber)
  • Low coefficient of friction

Not compatible with:
  • Low compression vacuum sealing flanges
  • High vacuum seals
  • High temperature steam.
